Dr. Carolina Cardona is a health economist and Assistant Scientist at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she earned her PhD and Master of Health Science (MHS) in Health Economics. Her research advances women’s, maternal, and newborn health across the life course, with a focus on sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, and demographic change. She applies economic and demographic methods and advanced quantitative approaches to examine how health systems and demographic dynamics shape health, fertility, mortality, and economic development. Dr. Cardona leads interdisciplinary research across sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America, working with governments and international partners to generate evidence that informs national programs and global health policy.
