Navigating Our Demographic Future for The Health and Well-Being of People and The Planet.

Demographic changes and human-driven changes to Earth’s natural systems are both simultaneously reshaping societies in ways not seen before in human history. On October 22-23, 2026, at the Hopkins Bloomberg Center in Washington D.C., the Johns Hopkins Institute for Planetary Health, the Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, and Hopkins Population Center will host a convening on demographics and Planetary Health to bring together academia, philanthropy, practitioners, and the media to establish a shared understanding of current demographic trends and their implication from multiple perspectives (economic, geopolitical, and environmental). Participants will explore the interventions, communications approaches, and research needed to navigate our demographic future for the health and well-being of people and planet.
